HAI Technical Committee actively strives to support technical areas of the civil helicopter community. Activities include facilitating dealings with the FAA on the local and national levels, i.e., input on airworthiness directives; review of FAR changes; and responding to proposed changes. The committee also serves as the "Technical Task Force" of the Regulations Committee. The Technical Committee sponsors the Manufacturer's Technical Briefings and the Maintenance Director's Forum during HELI-EXPO. The committee continues to support and encourage use of the Maintenance Malfunction Information Report (MMIR), which has gained acceptance from both the civil helicopter industry and the FAA.
