Governor George Ervin Perdue III (Sonny) of Georgia has added Private Rotorcraft Helicopter privileges in a Robinson R44 to his pilot’s license July 22nd.  The Governor is an accomplished pilot holding a Commercial certificate with Single and Multi-engine ratings. He has over 2800 total hours.

NEMSPA Releases Survey on NVG Usage in Air Medical Services

The National EMS Pilots Association released the results of a survey regarding NVG utilization it conducted earlier this spring to the FAA on the 26th of June 2008. The survey contained responses from nearly 400 pilots who are involved in or interested in the air medical industry.

PHPA to hold Annual General Membership Meeting

On Saturday, June 28, 2008 the Professional Helicopter Pilots Association (PHPA) will hold it’s annual membership meeting in Hollywood, California. Current members and guests are invited to join in the fun at the Hollywood Bowl where lucky guests are invited to enjoy the rehearsal of “Sgt. Pepper’s…Revisited”. Check-in begins at 9:30am, enjoy the rehearsal first and following lunch will be the membership meeting.

The Long-Term Goal A VHA Helicopter.

Chief Warrant Officer David S. Williams, an Army Apache Helicopter Pilot, was shot down over Baghdad during the initial U.S. invasion of Iraq.  He survived the crash landing, escaped into the darkness, and evaded capture for 45 grueling minutes before being taken hostage by an angry mob of mercenaries.  He was then delivered into the hands of the Iraqi Revolutionary Guard who shuffled him from prison to prison, until he was rescued by the U.S. Marines, on April 13 2003.
