These steps are a result of the arrests of individuals engaged in a plot to destroy multiple passenger aircraft flying from the United Kingdom to the United States. The DHS has raised the threat level for commercial flights originating in the United Kingdom bound for the United States. The threat level has been raised to severe, or Red, which is the highest alert level. In order to defend against any remaining threat associated with this plot, the threat level for all commercial aviation operations in, or destined for the United States, has been raised to high, or Orange. This determination will be constantly evaluated and updated when circumstances warrant. Travelers should also anticipate additional security measures within the airport and at screening checkpoints.
